Henry Blodget appeals to his readers at "Business Insider": Send me inside information about Sarah Palin's pregnancy with Trig

By Patrick

Henry Blodget, senior editor at Business Insider, once again proves that courageous journalists still exist. He first got involved with the investigation of Sarah Palin's pregnancy when he published a groundbreaking article at Business Insider on April 13, 2011, reporting about Professor Brad Scharlott's research paper. This article received more than 400,000 views up until today and was virtually the first mainstream article (apart from Andrew Sullivan's long and tireless efforts) which really tried to break the "spiral of silence" - a spiral which surrounded Sarah Palin's pregnancy with Trig for more than two years.

Henry Blodget then not only continued to write further, forceful articles about the unanswered question regarding Sarah Palin's pregnancy, but he for example also allowed journalists like Laura Novak, who had started to relentlessly pursue the babygate issue, to publish at "Business Insider."

Today Henry Blodget came out with full force again: In an article called "Please Help Us Answer This Question About Sarah Palin Once And For All" he made an unusual, but also ingenious appeal to his readers: Please send me inside information about Sarah Palin's pregnancy with Trig.

He writes:

Sarah Palin maintained her birth story during the 2008 presidential campaign, and she is now considered a leading candidate for the presidency in 2012. We understand that many people have made up their minds on this question, but many others haven't (on both sides of the aisle). The possibility that a candidate for president lied to the country on this grand a scale is a serious question, and it is worth investigating and answering definitively.

Importantly, if Sarah Palin has been telling the truth all along, she can answer the question herself anytime she likes, just by releasing the necessary medical records. President Obama finally did this with his "long-form" birth certificate, and, for most open-minded Americans, this put the "birther" question to rest.

If Palin did stage a hoax, meanwhile, she'll likely continue to behave just as she always has: Refusing to release any documents, attacking anyone who asks. If the Trig pregnancy was faked, therefore, we'll likely need to get the answer from another source.

So, it's time the media helped the people who know get the truth out without risking their jobs or reputations in the process.

Importantly, establishing the truth about this question is more important than Sarah Palin and "politics." If Alaska governor and Vice-President candidate Sarah Palin faked her pregnancy, she defrauded the entire country. If she didn't, she (and we) deserve to not have any more time wasted discussing the question. Whether or not Palin runs for president in 2012, therefore, Americans deserve to know the truth here, and we will be grateful to anyone who can help us establish it.

Here are two ways to establish communication with us while maintaining anonymity:

1) Web-mail.
Log onto the Internet from a public computer (school, organization, library, Internet cafe)
Create a Gmail or Yahoo Mail account with a fake name
Send an email to hblodget@businessinsider.com
Check the account frequently after you send the original email so we can communicate with you

2) Snail mail
Put all relevant documents (photos, medical records, etc.) into a package and mail it to us without a return address. (ADDRESS: 257 Park Avenue South, 13th Floor, New York, NY 10010)

We will almost certainly have questions about these documents, so it would be helpful if you could also establish email communication via the method above. Include a mention of the specific information you sent us, so we can be confident that we are communicating with the person who sent it to us.

If you do not know the truth here, but know someone who might, please alert them to this post.

Again, this is not about politics. It is about the truth. Please help us establish it once and for all.

Thank you.

This is an important and courageous move by a mainstream journalist, who doesn't seem to be afraid at all of ridicule and criticism, but just wants to know the truth, and nothing but the truth. This development is incredibly refreshing, as we have encountered far too many spineless journalists since the publication of Professor Scharlott's research paper who have been virtually falling over themselves to declare that Sarah Palin was in fact pregnant. Those journalists declare the cased closed, despite having seen no real evidence for the existence of Palin's pregnancy. At the same time they ignore all the troubling and contradictory facts of Sarah Palin's pregnancy story and don't demand any real evidence. In addition, they immediately brand anyone "conspiracy theorist" who dares to step out of line.

But Henry Blodget is not a conspiracy theorist. He is a very successful entrepreneur, a Yale educated businessman and former Wall Street Analyst. He is not crazy, and neither are we. The success is not guaranteed, such an appeal could still be a failure. But every businessman knows: If you ain't gonna try, you ain't gonna win.
